Privacy Policy

Summary
FingerRead highlights text inside the page you are reading. Everything the extension does with your text happens locally, in your browser. We do not receive the pages you read, your selections, your browsing history, or your keystrokes. The only data we hold is what is needed to run a paying account: your email address and your membership state.
What the extension stores on your device
- Your preferences (for example, whether character or word stepping is enabled) are kept in the browser's extension storage on your device.
- A session token, if you sign in, is kept in the extension's background storage so you do not have to sign in on every page.
Uninstalling the extension removes this local data.
What we collect on our servers

We do not ask for your name, address, or payment details. When you pay, your card or wallet details go directly to our payment provider or merchant of record; we never see them.
What we never collect
- The content of the pages you read, your text selections, or the sites you visit.
- Keystrokes, mouse movements, or screenshots.
- Advertising identifiers. We do not run ads and we do not sell or share personal data with advertisers or data brokers.
Who processes data on our behalf
- Payment / merchant of record: processes your purchase and, as the legal seller, handles tax and invoices. Its name is shown on the checkout page, and its privacy policy applies to the payment data it collects.
- Email delivery: sends sign-in codes. Our mail provider sees your email address and the message content.
- Hosting: our own server, hosted by a VPS provider in Hong Kong, stores the account database.
Retention
Session records expire automatically. Order and membership records are kept while your account exists and afterwards as long as needed for accounting and tax obligations. Server logs are kept for a short period for abuse prevention.
Your choices
You can ask us to export or delete your account data at any time by writing to hi@microstep.today. Deleting the account ends any active membership; order records required for accounting may be retained as required by law. If you are in the EEA, the UK, or a jurisdiction with similar rights, you also have the right to object to processing, to request restriction, and to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. Our legal bases are performance of a contract (running your account and membership) and legitimate interests (preventing abuse and keeping records).
Children
The Software is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we will update the date above and note the change on this page.

如果你写信到 hi@microstep.today，我们会把这封信 （含原始邮件与附件）保存在我们自己的服务器上，以便回复与留档；同时会发一份提醒到我们自己的邮箱。 我们不收集姓名、地址与支付信息；付款时的卡号或钱包信息直接由支付服务商/记录商户处理， 我们看不到。我们不做广告、不投放追踪器、不出售或共享个人数据。 你可以随时写信到 hi@microstep.today 要求导出或删除账号数据（删除账号会同时终止会员；依法需保留的账务记录除外）。 若中文与英文版本有出入，以英文版本为准。
